Thor would be the last superhero that I expect to be funny but hey, Marvel does it again!

Thor Ragnarok is the latest movie in Marvel Cinematic Universe directed by Taika Waititi who had previously helmed movies like ‘Hunt for the Wilder People’ and ‘What We Do In The Shadows’, two movies that I enjoyed and he is back directing a marvel movie and this has to be one of the finest movie to come out in the MCU.

This movie takes a detour from the first two thor movies which was relatively darker and had a more serious tone and goes the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ way with humour, fun and a lots of colour!
So Basically, whatever you know about Thor or have any perceptions about him, throw it out of the window and enjoy this film!

The Good thing about this movie is that it is a comedy.
The bad thing about this movie is that it is a comedy.

Its true that all the Marvel movies are lighter in tone and humour is thrown around here and there but with Thor, there’s humour in every scene. This movie’s Genre should read ‘Comedy/Sci-Fi’. Although the humour lands more often than not, it does take away some intensity in certain scenes and the tension which was building right before the punch hits.

But that doesn’t change the fact that this is one of the best Marvel Movie to come out. The performances in this movie were great.

It was fun to see a short-haired tongue-and-cheek Christopher Hemsworth as Thor. Right from the first frame it is made evident that Thor has changed a lot as a, err, god? Maybe him visiting Earth has had a change on him or something.

Tom Hiddleston as Loki is a gem. There is something about his charm that makes you believe that he wont betray his brother again (when will that happen?). Excellent!

Cate Blanchett made her entry into this franchise as the antagonist Hella: The goddess of death, the first major female villain in this Marvel Cinematic Universe and wasn’t she great. She looked menacing, powerful and she knocked the ball out of the park. Though I had certain issues with her character early on because her first two scenes were plain exposition scenes. You can understand that given the fact that she is the First Born to Odin and she had a long history attached to her but she was just blabbing out information to the audience. Maybe a spin-off movie for Hella with Cate Blanchett and Anthony Hopkins. HELL YEAH!

Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk has to be one of the best things to happen to this movie. He is Hulk for a majority of time and Hulk communicates more like Hulk. Dheeraj like Hulk in movie. Hulk is funny. Hulk is powerful. Hulk is back. And yes, Hulk is fire. (Watch the movie to get this reference). Also, the fight scene between Hulk and Thor with Loki reacting to the fight, EPIC!

Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie does a decent job and it’d be interesting to see how her angle of the story continues with Thor.

Taika Waititi as Korg, the stone-man gladiatorial fighter who becomes Thor’s new mate brings the house down. The character is so adorable!

And yes, Matt Damon has the most random cameo ever!

It is difficult to make an entertaining movie for the entire duration of the runtime but Taika Waititi exactly does that. Action sequences of the movie are great and majority of the promotion was based on the ‘Hulk vs Thor’ fight which was top notch. The surprise addition of humour works wonders for the movie and it’ll be interesting to see the roles that these characters will have to play in Infinity War!

Had this movie capitalized on certain key intense moments instead of throwing in humour, this movie would’ve been perfect.

I rate Thor Ragnarok an ‘A’
